Ronn Guidi, Artistic Director

Mr. Guidi is a noted expert in the dance world. He has served as supervisor of ballet at the University of California at Berkeley. He currently gives master classes at many colleges and universities. In addition, he conducts annual dance workshop in June at Grand Forks North Dakota, and Incline Village, Nevada.

He has been called upon to be a panel member for the National Endowment for the Arts, The California Arts Council, and Grants for Art in San Francisco. He has served as an adjudicator for the Pacific Northwest Regional Ballet Association. He has received numerous award for achievements in the dance world, including Lifetime Achievement Award, Oakland, The National Endowment for the Arts and Humanities, The Ruth Beckford Extra Ordinary Person Award, and Isadora Duncan Award for Sustained Achievement.

He has been recognized over many years for his artistic talents as a dancer, choreographer teacher, and Artistic Director. The students at the Academy have annual performance experiences in Nutcracker and the Spring Dance Concert held each year at Holy Names College.

As a choreographer he received critical and audience acclaim for his full length ballet, The Nutcracker, The Secret Garden, Hansel and Gretel, and Romeo and Juliet. He has created over 50 ballets. During his leadership the Oakland Ballet has Toured all 50 states, including Mexico, Canada, and Europe.

Jenna McClintock An Oakland native, received her first ballet class from Ronn Guidi in 1984, at the age of eight. In 1990, she joined the Oakland Ballet Company as an apprentice, performing such works as Les Sylphide, Scheherazade, and Petrouchka. In 1992, she became a full company member, and had the privilege of dancing her favorite title role in Hansel & Gretel. While at Oakland, Jenna has also been fortunate to perform Nijinska's Les Noces, Les Train Bleu, and as a 'grey girl' in Les Biches. She performed the Roasted Swan in John Butler's Carmina Burana, Tom Rudd's Bella De Note, works from Val Canaparoli and Alonzo King, the title roles in Michael Lowe's The Emperor and The Nightingale, and Guidi's Romeo and Juliet. In 2001, Jenna moved to Virginia, joining the Richmond Ballet for five seasons. She was blessed with many great opportunities, meeting new choreographers such as Mauricio Wainrot, Jessica Lang, Bill Soleau, and the familiar faces of Micheal Lowe and Val Canaparoli. Jenna has danced Ronn Guidi's Nutcracker since 'Ginger Snap' to 'Sugar Plum', and it will always be her favorite Nutcracker to perform.

Omar Shabazz Omar began his dance training at Oakland Technical High School, with teacher Lauren Manduke in 1987. It was through Oakland Tech's after-school program that he met Ronn Guidi of the Oakland Ballet Academy. Omar danced for the Oakland Ballet until 1997. He performed such roles as the Nephew/Prince, Snow Cavalier, Rose Cavalier, and Sugar Plum Cavalier in The Nutcracker; Paris and Benvolio in Romeo and Juliet, and Blackamoor in Petrouchka.
